Rey Mysterio Emotionally Vows To Hang Up The Mask, But His Son Convinces Him Not To Retire

On RAW this week, Rey Mysterio discussed his recent struggles. Mysterio said his body isn’t responding as well as it used to in the ring and tearfully said it was time to hang up his mask. His son Dominic begged him to keep competing and Mysterio said he’ll do it because he loves his son. A transcription of Mysterio’s words are below, credit of Wrestlezone’s Tyler Treese.

“Recently, things haven’t bene clicking for me. You know what Andrade did was a disgrace. He ripped my mask off. In our culture, as a luchador, that is the biggest insult. What hurts me the most is the fact that I haven’t been able to do anything about it. When I step into the ring, I can see ahead of time what my next moves are going to be, but for some reason my body doesn’t seem to respond what I’m envisioning. I know I’ve had a lot of injuries … but my biggest fear is that these injuries have finally caught up to me. I know that this day has to come to everyone at some point, I just didn’t expect that one day it would come to me. I now understand … It is time for me to hang up the mask and let this new generation of superstars let their way in.”
