There was an angle done between Cody Rhodes and Shawn Spears at a Capital City Championship Combat (C4) Wrestling show.
The promotion held their heir Fighting Back 9 event in Ottawa on Friday night, which sees the proceeds go to the Canadian Cancer Society. This is where Rhodes & MJF teamed up to defeat Tabarnak De Team (Mathieu St-Jacques & Thomas Dubois).
Post-match, Spears hit the ring to attack both AEW stars. MJF eventually made the save before Spears could hit Rhodes with a chair.
This led to Rhodes going for the Cross Rhodes, but Spears was able to get out of the ring.
Spears and Rhodes are slated to meet at the AEW All Out pay-per-view event later this month.
