Shayna Baszler came into NXT TakeOver: Toronto on a mission to retain her NXT Women’s Championship, and she did just that. In a great match against Mia Him, Baszler came away as the winner, proving that her submission skills were just too much to overcome for someone like Yim. While Yim looked to have plenty of chances to come away as the winner, Baszler proved why she was the champion, countering everything that Yim threw at her en route to the win.
Throughout the match, Baszler tried to get Yim into a submission, but was constantly unable. However, towards the end of the contest, Baszler locked in the Kirifuda Clutch, but Yim was able to peel herself out of it and continue fighting for a brief moment. The champion proved to be too much, though, as Baszler continued attacking, locking Yim in another Clutch before catching Yim’s head in a submission with her legs. With Yim unable to do anything, she tapped out, giving Baszler another hard-fought victory.
