Jerry Lawler Taking Tennessee Sheriff To Court Over Brian Christopher’s Death

In a report confirmed by TMZ Sports, Jerry “The King” Lawler is seeking $3 million in damages from the Tennessee police sheriff that he claims led to Brian Christopher Lawler’s 2018 suicide. Lawler’s lawyer claims that Brian told police about past suicide attempts. Despite these warnings, police allegedly made no effort to protect him from himself during the arrest. After placing him in a general cell and getting into a scuffle with inmates, he was placed in solitary confinement with his shoelaces intact. After he allegedly cried out for help repeatedly, Brian used the shoelaces and a large bolt in his cell to hang himself.

The suit also claims that the police department was ill-prepared for a suicide attempt, only possessing children’s scissors to free Brian and try to rescue him. Jerry Lawler claims that he spoke directly with the Tennessee Sheriff he’s suing and explained Brian’s issues. The Sheriff allegedly promised him that proper treatment would be provided, and Jerry chose not to bail Brian out of prison because of this promise.
