Ethan Page On History And Success With Josh Alexander, The North’s Next Great Tag Team Challenge

Ethan Page recently spoke with Wrestlezone’s Kevin Kellam and the current IMPACT Tag Team Champion spoke about the recent success he’s seen with Josh Alexander. Page first appeared for the company in November 2017 as ‘Chandler Park’ before eventually breaking out on his own under his current name in 2018. Page spent some time with Matt Sydal before splitting up after Sydal left the company, but was quickly paired up with Alexander. Page noted that people might be surprised to see how quickly they bonded, but they have chemistry as a team under the ‘Monster Mafia’ name on the independent scene.

“It’s crazy that the first thing we did when Josh signed with IMPACT is team up, especially because they started hyping him up as a singles competitor. I had just wrapped up my stuff with Matt Sydal, and when they told us that we were going to team, we both lit up. We both know what we’re capable of as a team. The weirdest thing is that there are so many people coming up to me at shows saying ‘I can’t believe how good chemistry you guys have, you guys became such a good tag team so fast.’ I’m just thinking, we lucked out because I wasn’t doing anything in the company, Josh needed something to really strap himself to, and we have amazing chemistry from the past and nobody really knows about it. So we were like the luckiest and greatest team of all time.”

Page talked about all of the issues Alexander faced before getting to work for IMPACT, including a neck surgery that looked to force ‘The Walking Weapon’ into retirement, but things ultimately had a strange way of working out for them both.

“Yeah, it was really cool to win my first belt there with him and for us to pretty much say out loud we would do this as a team. With all the bumps in the road, like him pretty much being banned from America, finding his way to a work visa, recovering from a broken neck surgery. Me exiting EVOLVE and ended up in IMPACT, and IMPACT being the place that offered Josh a contract. It was the weirdest, craziest road, but we ended up literally at the same place at the same time to be able to achieve the goal that we set out so many years ago. It’s pretty cool.”

The North recently won the IMPACT Tag Team Championship at the Bash At The Brewery this month, and had a successful triple threat title defense at Slammiversary the following night. Page says a rematch with former champions LAX or their other Slammiversary opponents, The Rascalz, would seem to be in the cards, but he is hoping to square off with another ‘team’ in IMPACT:

“I think, obviously, a rematch with LAX or a rematch with The Rascalz; both have been really good. But me personally, I’m gonna cross my fingers for Rich Swann and Willie Mack to decide to be a full-time tag team and The North versus those guys, that would be really really good.”
