Eric Bischoff On His New SmackDown Role : ‘I’ve Got A Lot To Learn’

Speaking on After 83 Weeks with Christy Olson, the aftershow to his 83 Weeks Podcast, Eric Bischoff gave some detail on his mindset going into his new role as head creative for SmackDown. When asked about what’s changed about producing wrestling since he last left the business, Bischoff states that he’s “got a lot to learn.”

… The audience has changed. Television has changed. So much has changed over the last five or seven years that I’ve got some catching up to do. I’m not going to sugarcoat it.

Eric also stated that he only told his family about the new appointment, following the “inherent” rule of the business, “just don’t talk.” As for whether he’ll be backstage at Extreme Rules on Sunday, he stated he probably would not.

I’ll be driving on Sunday. It’s going to take me five days, it’s like 2000 miles and I’ve got a couple stops I want to make a longer wait. So I’ll probably be stuck on the Ohio Turnpike on Sunday.

Eric also talks about the guaranteed continuation of his podcast work and how he views WCW’s legacy in 2019. You can hear the full interview in the video embedded below.
