Mickie James Talks Her Wrestling Origins, Performing Country Music

In a recent interview with ABC 8 News out of her local Richmond, Virginia, Mickie James talked about how a girl who grew up riding and showing horses ended up as a professional wrestler. As you might imagine, it has something to do with the era that everyone remembers fondly. “…the Attitude Era sparked so it totally blew me away. And I was just fascinated by the characters, by the spectacle of it all — the show — and it just seemed like I would just get lost in it.”

She talks about first learning at the local Kyda Pro when she was 19 before eventually training at OVW and getting onto the WWE roster. She also talks about her burgeoning music career, where she’s performing alongside acts like Rascal Flatts and Big and Rich. She mentions specifically that it’s nice to be in front of an audience who appreciates her music, subtly referencing her run in IMPACT as “Hardcore Country.”
