Shawn Spears Pulled From Indie Appearance This Week; Promoter Issues Statement (Updated)

Update: Limitless Wrestling has announced Shawn Spears is now cleared to appear at their event on Friday as scheduled.

Limitless posted the following on their Twitter account, announcing Spears will still be on hand at their show in Portland this Friday.

We’ve got some outstanding news to share! has now cleared to appear and participate in the 2019 Vacationland Cup THIS FRIDAY in Portland! We can’t thank AEW enough for approving this one day ahead of their upcoming event in Jacksonville..

It was also announced that VIP Packages will now include a Tommy Dreamer trading card and a free Shawn Spears 8×10 photo and autograph.

Shawn Spears was scheduled to make an appearance for Limitless Wrestling this Friday. But, according to a Facebook post from the owner, Randy Carver, AEW has pulled Spears from the event. “AEW has pulled Shawn Spears from our event this Friday in Portland for a video shoot, despite Limitless having an agreement with Shawn before his new contract was signed,” Carver writes in the post.

He also states that situations like this frequently happen in the industry. “Unfortunately, with the wrestling industry continuously changing and new contracts arising, independent wrestling companies like Limitless will get the shit end of the stick in scenarios like this,” Carver writes. “Our job is to always be up front and provide the best show possible for the best wrestling fans in the world”

Carver also announces that Tommy Dreamer will replace Shawn Spears and he’ll face Anthony Greene at the 2019 Vacationland Cup. The full statement is below:

We’ve got some unfortunate news to pass along, so let’s just jump into it. AEW has pulled Shawn Spears from our event this Friday in Portland for a video shoot, despite Limitless having an agreement with Shawn before his new contract was signed. We’ve monitored his status on this show with his agent leading up to Friday and were assured the date was locked. We’ve spent the past 24 hours submitting different travel solutions to Shawn’s agent & AEW to make it work for all parties, all of which were denied.

Tommy Dreamer will replace Shawn Spears against Anthony Greene at #VLC2019. VIP ticket holders will receive a free Tommy Dreamer Limitless Trading Card + a free autograph from Dreamer. Any VIP ticket holders who are not satisfied and would like a refund can email RandyCarver@yahoo.com.

Unfortunately, with the wrestling industry continuously changing and new contracts arising, independent wrestling companies like Limitless will get the shit end of the stick in scenarios like this. Our job is to always be up front and provide the best show possible for the best wrestling fans in the world. We’ll be doing it again this Friday & I hope to see you there. Thanks for sticking with us.
