Kazuchika Okada Overcomes Hiroshi Tanahashi At G1 Climax Night 1

The final main event for the first night of the G1 Climax pit Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi against each other. The two rivals wasted little time in showing just how much animosity there was between the two when it came to the ring, as they quickly got to work trying to take each other down. Although Tanahashi put on a great fight, he was unable to ever really take control of the match, and constantly seemed to be battling from behind against Okada.

To his credit, Okada was on the offensive for nearly he entire match, delivering fierce elbow drops to Tanahashi, landing various slams off of the top rope, and just generally taking the fight to him. Surprisingly, Tanahashi almost took down Okada at the end thanks to the superstar nearly rolling up Okada quickly. Unfortunately for him, Okada landed a Rainmaker and Tombstone on Tanahashi for the win.

After the match, Okada took to the mic and thanked the fans for coming, and told them that he plans on coming back to Dallas as the IWGP Champion and winner of the G1 Climax.
