Dalton Castle Isn’t Done Winning Matches, Explains Why He Dropped The Boys

Dalton Castle recently spoke with Wrestlezone’s Kevin Kellam ahead of the Ring Of Honor Best In The World pay-per-view in Baltimore. Castle defeated Dragon Lee at Best In The World on Friday night, a victory he not only called “inevitable” but said he’d celebrate it with a tray of coconut macaroons and a nice bottle of moscato. Castle says he has no plans of slowing down and is going to continue moving upwards.

“Yeah, I’m not done winning matches. I’m gonna continue on the direction that I like to head, and that’s up. Championships, they kind of just do the talking for you. They prove to the world—if I walk around and say, ‘Hey, I’m the best in the world’, which I am, I truly do believe that—but with that Ring Of Honor World Championship around my waist or in my carry-on luggage as I walk through the TSA, I mean, listen—some people are going to have to ask for that information. But if they see it, well then they know immediately. Which, I like to keep conversations short.”

Castle says it feels good being a champion and it announces who you are, but you’ve also got to be ready for the physical responsibility that comes with it.

“Well, there’s a couple of things that come along with it. One, there’s the responsibility of making sure you represent the company in the best light that you possibly can. And two, you got to make sure you got the proper weight training to support such an item, because it is heavy, and it sits kind of awkwardly around the waist. The lumbar, there’s a lot of stress on the lumbar. So, it’s important to kind of really measure your strides when you’re walking with that big heavy piece of metal around your waist.”

Dalton’s recent success came without two notable people at his side—The Boys. Castle attacked them after his frustrating loss to Rush at Madison Square Garden in April, and now says they kept failing him, so it was time for them to go.

“The Boys are nice. The Boys had been with me for a long time, they certainly showed loyalty, but their inadequacy is no measure for loyalty. If I keep you around and you continue to fail me and let me down, then I’m a fool. And Dalton Castle is no dumb dumb. The Boys had to go. They just had to go, they were damaging my goals. I’m not done with The Boys completely, but those two particular boys, they just weren’t making the cut no more.”
