Kofi on His Long Feud With Dolph Ziggler: “We Bring Out The Best in Each Other”

WWE Champion Kofi Kingston spoke with Gamespot about his upcoming cage match main event with Dolph Ziggler at WWE Stomping Grounds. While the placement on the card may be new, his matchup against “The Showoff” is very familiar indeed. “Honestly, Dolph is one of my favorite opponents, and I almost forgot how much I enjoyed competing against him.” He states that the pair wrestled “every single week” on TV a decade ago, and that having the two rivals meet again after going their different ways is “really what it’s all about.”

Kofi also sees comparisons to draw between his main event matches and programs from WWE past. “Back in the day, you had Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart going at it for the Intercontinental Championship, and then years, later they were doing the same thing for the WWE title as well.” While he’s quick to say that he can’t compare himself to those legends on a technical level, but it’s still the way he thinks about their feud.

It’s a story that’s a lot deeper than just the physical steel cage match. It’s the whole journey that we’ve been through over the past decade of trying to get to this point, and now we can finally do it in the steel cage at Stomping Grounds, it’s going to be awesome.

Kofi and Dolph will clash for the WWE Championship this Sunday at Stomping Grounds.
