Reported Details Behind WWE Women Potentially Competing In Saudi Arabia

Dave Meltzer is reporting further details in his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter about the ongoing situation between the Saudi Arabian government and the talk of allowing WWE women to compete on their shows.

According to Meltzer, the Saudi government evidently told WWE at one point that they would permit the company to have a women’s match on the card on the June 7 show factoring in that Jeddah is a more progressive city than Riyadh. However, this was never made publicly by WWE in fear that the idea would eventually get shut down.

As an interesting side note to WWE Super Showdown, Meltzer also reports that while the country of Saudi Arabia gets no mention on WWE television, it does get mentioned by WWE Superstars in promos for the localized market.
