Shinsuke Nakamura Reveals His Career Aspirations : ‘I Need to Wrestle Until I’m 45’

Sitting down with The Straits Times, SmackDown Superstar Shinsuke Nakamura had some words about where he sees his wrestling career going in the future. The interview takes place in Singapore, the site of a house show where the “King of Strong Style” will take on Universal Champion Seth Rollins. According to Shinsuke, singles matches like this are something he wants to get back to. A feud with Seth on TV may even be in the cards, and he hopes to take on Roman Reigns as well. ‘It all depends on the matches in Singapore and in Tokyo. A lot of people want me to come back to singles wrestling. Hopefully, I will have a great match against Seth.’

While Nakamura recognizes that he is getting up there in years, he doesn’t want to quit in-ring competition anytime soon.

I want to wrestle at least five more years. I’m 39 now. Baseball player Ichiro Suzuki retired at 45 and he was such an influence for Japanese sportsmen, especially those who lived in other countries. And so I need to wrestle until I’m 45 years old.
