Tony Khan On When Talks With Jon Moxley Started, How His Fan Perspective Is Going To Help AEW

The wrestling media caught up with Tony Khan after AEW Double Or Nothing finished and several questions were asked about Jon Moxley including what his schedule will be looking like. In addition, the AEW President was asked (by none other than Mark Henry) about giving a fan’s perspective to the company and also talked about a strong relationship with the United Kingdom, weight classes, potential PPV schedule and Jesus being ringside for Jerichio vs. Kenny Omega. Some quotes are below:

Tony Khan on when talks began with Jon Moxley and what his schedule will be like in AEW:

“As soon as he was out of his out his deal and wanted to talk to people he came to me and I was really excited to talk to him when he was able to talk to me and he’s been great and I’m very excited to talk to him.

So he is a multi-year contract and he’ll be on a full-time deal. When we go weekly, he’s gonna be working full-time, but same as with the other guys, especially when the schedule is light, I’m gonna be open to be him working some international and indie dates, but he is full-time with us and domestically he is essentially our guy…”

On being able to give a fan and businessman’s perspective to AEW:

“I think it is gonna help, Mark because I think I understand what a fan wants to see and you know, front top to bottom. I feel like today and I was able to go and sit with the guys and everyone had great opinions on what was going to make this a great show and that’s what makes this such a great collaborative process with like the group we have, with like booking cause like we communicate like really well and I think I offer a little bit of a different perspective, not just as a fan but as a business man too and like it’s a little bit different from what the guys’ experience is. It’s great synergy and I feel like as a group, not just a the top executives, the whole roster and everybody together, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”

On AEW going weekly on TNT:

“But I’m really excited when we get to weekly. It’s just going to be a better quality of life. The work is going to be better than it’s ever been, but it’s gonna be like 20 years ago where you can go you’re week. You’re going to be able to watch a lot of wrestling and it’s not going to be a chore either, like it’s gonna be fun.”

On learning that a Jesus cosplayer was ringside for Chris Jericho vs. Kenny Omega:

“Oh, okay, well, bless him.”

Throughout the interview, Khan talks about the “tale of the tape” and statistics being a big part of AEW, but dismisses an idea of weight classes since there will be “David vs. Goliath” potential for feuds. He also addresses the frequency and length of their PPV-like shows. The full video is below:
