Kofi Kingston Doesn’t Hate The Idea Of A Three-Hour SmackDown

Towards the end of April, Kofi Kingston did an interview with Vicente Beltran, and in the discussion – which has been posted on Beltran’s YouTube channel – Kingston discussed his then recent WrestleMania victory, what it was like performing days after he won the WWE Championship, and more.

One interesting note that the two touched on, however, is the rumor that WWE SmackDown will be shifting to a three-hour format when the show moves to Fox broadcasting this year. While Kingston noted that he hadn’t heard the rumor, he didn’t seem against it.

“For me, the more wrestling on TV, the better. More people will get opportunities to be on TV, there’s a lot of talent on our roster that the world should see,” he said. “I think 205 Live is one of the best-kept secrets in WWE right now, and you’re finally getting to see guys like Buddy Murphy, and Cedric Alexander, and Ali, who have been doing amazing things on 205 Live. Even Lucha House Party, and now they’re on the main roster, and showing that they can go, and go very well. So I think that if we were to get another hour, I don’t know if that’s going to happen or not, but it would definitely provide an opportunity for guys who deserve to be on TV, it would provide a chance for them to be able to show what they can do.”

While Kingston made sure to reiterate that he didn’t know if SmackDown Live will be switching to a longer format, he does make a good point. More time would allow lesser known superstars to get more shine, and build themselves up. There’s no information just yet on what the programming will be like, but fans would certainly not be against more airtime.
