Haku On His Legacy, Working With Andre The Giant, Providing Opportunities For His Family

Professional wrestling legend Haku recently did an interview with WhatCulture Wrestling to talk about several  topics, including the strangest rumors he has heard about himself over the years and working with Andre The Giant. Check out the highlights here, and the full interview below:

The strangest rumors he has heard about himself:

Strangest rumor? I mean, all of them. But it’s all true. I can’t even count my stupidity, but it is what it is, and that’s what it was.

Working with Andre The Giant:

Very different. You know, with the stories and everything, I look at it and I wasn’t there. I spent a lot of time with him in the tag team and everything – it was an honor. I was grateful that he chose me as his partner. In sports, in all the sports, I believe wrestling is more different than all the sports.

The way we take care of each other – it’s a family, exactly. So, he was the biggest human being in our family – or the oldest, biggest, larger than all of us. But it was great. He was a good man to work with and I’ll always appreciate it, I’ll never forget that.

Favorite memories from wrestling:

“Everything. I myself didn’t have to look at the politics and all of that stuff. All I had to remember was what was waiting for me at home—family, country—all of those things that I was fighting for. I’m always thankful for all of the promoters in this country that gave me opportunities.”

Haku later spoke about wanting to give his family better opportunities than he had, adding:

“All I had was my strength. All I had was my faith in me. I fought for everything I could get out of the business, out of life, to take care of my family. Now they see it and they are working on it, and I hope that they understand that even though I don’t like it, I wish they’d use their education as their thing, but they are doing a good job and I’m proud.”
