Lio Rush Reportedly Turned Down New Contract, Asked For Double WWE’s Offer

WWE star Lio Rush has seemingly been unhappy with his position in the company. Recently Rush did an interview with Fightful and discusses several topics such as not making enough money to support his family, someone in WWE leaking false accusations about him in attempt to get him released, not carrying bags for other talent, and more.

PWInsider reports that there have been multiple complaints made about Rush bringing his wife backstage and allowing her to change in the women’s locker room. This has reportedly been going on since November of last year during WWE’s European tour. In another incident, Rush brought a group backstage during a TV taping last year. When the group was stopped for not having proper credentials, they began to loudly yell at a female member of WWE’s security team, which didn’t sit well with some Superstars.

Also during the WWE’s 2018 European tour, one veteran talent (who was not Finn Balor) attempted to pull Rush aside and talk to him about the issues. However, Rush responded by telling them that he “works for Vince, not you.” WWE management later had to approach the veteran after Rush complained about the incident. Rush complained about the veteran speaking to him when he was not an executive in the company and is “Rush’s equal, not his boss.”

After that story got around, Rush was kicked out of the locker room for a period of time. Following that, Rush’s issues became less of a regular occurrence. Until now. This morning on Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall Of Famer Mark Henry said he asked Rush about the stories claiming he had issues with the company:

I pulled him aside the last time I saw him and told him ‘I’m hearing stuff in the locker room. What’s wrong?’ He said nothing’s wrong. It was a blatant lie to my face. I let him know that if he has a question, right now is the time to do that.

PWInsider adds that Rush’s claims of not making enough money to support his family are interesting, as WWE recently offered him a new five-year deal making $300,000 a year. However, multiple sources say he turned the deal down, instead asking for double that figure.

Henry had this to say about the financial claims:

If you can’t pay for a rental car, you can’t pay for a hotel with the money that you’re making every week then you need to change the way you’re spending. You can’t blame that on the office. If you spent everything before you got it, that’s your problem.”
