In the culmination of a bitter rivalry, Brian Cage defeated Johnny Impact to win the IMPACT World Championship. At Impact: Rebellion, with Lance Storm as the special guest referee, Cage persevered despite the efforts of Taya Valkyrie and John E. Bravo. But, after the match, a newcomer ruined the new champion’s celebration. Michael Elgin came to the ring and made it clear he wanted a shot at the title. Then, Elgin attacked Cage to put an exclamation point on his debut.
