After finally escaping the clutches of Lucha Underground, Joey Ryan has apparently drawn interest from WWE. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that, after Ryan’s issues with Lucha Underground were settled, WWE reached out to him. They wanted to know if he was willing to move to Florida, wrestle a few years, and then serve as a trainer.
Ryan currently owns a Los Angeles home and is making far more money than what a regular WWE NXT contract would pay out. For him to take such a deal at this point in his career wouldn’t make sense. WON explains that, had the offer been made when Ryan was 29-years-old, he definitely would’ve taken it. However, at 39, taking a pay cut to join WWE at this point in his career is probably something he’s going to avoid.
It should be noted that, despite being a regular member on Being The Elite, Ryan is not under contract with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). That’s likely due to the fact that he barely settled his contractual issues with Lucha Underground not too long ago. The presumption is that he’ll eventually land with AEW when all is said and done.
