Report: WWE No Longer Running Backlash PPV In San Diego

It is being reported by multiple sources that WWE will not be holding the Backlash PPV on June 16th in San Diego like once anticipated. It should be stressed that this event was never actually made official by the WWE but The Pechanga Arena in San Diego had the show listed on their event calendar with updated 2019 graphics. Also, WWE had created a webpage for the event that could have been viewed at WWE.com/wwe-backlash-san-diego but not redirects to a “Page not found” screen.

With WWE reportedly moving the Saudi Arabia show to June 7th, the company has reportedly decided to not have Backlash just 9 days later for adverting/marketing reasons. WWE listed Backlash on their touring schedule and on paperwork they filed in court for June 16th but had not gotten around to making it publically official yet.

Additionally, Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE is now dealing with the situation of having all of the weekend house shows in the California area such as Oakland, Stockton, and San Jose. There was also a speculated NXT TakeOver event in San Jose that weekend that was never made official yet.
