Bruno Sammartino Passes Away One Year Ago Today
It was one year ago today when professional wrestling legend Bruno Sammartino passed away at the age of 82 after a resurgence of his rheumatic fever occurred giving him health complications and causing his organs to fail him. Sammartino had rheumatic fever when he was a boy. Bruno passed away in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA and not a lot of details were known at the time surrounding the severity of his health.
Sammartino will likely go down as the longest tenured WWE Champion in the history of the company with two separate runs with the belt, his initial run was eight years and his second run was four years. Sammartino was finally inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.
Vince McMahon Honors Roddy Piper On His Birthday
Yesterday would have been the late Roddy Piper’s birthday. Hot Rod would have been 65 and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon took a moment to honor Piper with a candid photo of the two together.
