Rob Van Dam Reveals How Often He Wrestled High, Who He’d Want To Induct Him Into WWE Hall Of Fame

IMPACT Wrestling star Rob Van Dam was recently interviewed by Chris Van Vliet to talk about several professional wrestling topics. “RVD” discussed if anyone has contacted him about going into the WWE Hall Of Fame, who he’d want to induct him, wrestling high, and more.

Here are the highlights:

If anyone has contacted him about the WWE Hall Of Fame:

No, no. I hear it from the fans and it’s like ‘Okay, as long as you think so,’ but who knows? I have no expectations. If you say so. Right off the bat, I think Paul Heyman (to induct him into the HOF). I think it would really be good for me to try and hear his perspective first hand of what his thoughts were on me and him developing me.

Cause it would be an experience for me for him to open up like that. At the time, even when I met him, even if I was only wrestling for like six years at the time, at that point I didn’t think that I was just someone – I didn’t think I was green and had 10 years of learning to do. Everywhere in life, it’s part of growing. When you’re growing you’re always looking back at a lesser you. That’s how it works.

How often he has wrestled high:

ECW, I’m gonna say 100 percent. WWE, well now you’re talking from 2001 all the way to my last run. Let’s go all the way to the last run in 2014, which case I would say, much much lower, maybe, like, 90 percent.

If wrestling high is any danger to your opponent:

I don’t know. I know back in the day there would be certain people that would put together the fact that I would hurt a lot of people, and the fact that I was stoned, and when I was in the competitive state of mind I would be offended by it. Like “Screw you, you’re saying something about me and my skills and I could do this with my eyes closed.”

And my ego just took over. Looking back on it, I don’t think so, but they had an argument that was worth considering. I’ll say that. When you use it all the time, it doesn’t affect you the way it affects other people. That’s the way most information is put together, by first-hand experience.

There are people that say “Oh no, nobody should be driving and smoking. I smoked one time and I couldn’t tell you my name.” They have no idea what the f*ck they smoked, what else is in their body, and so, anyway, it doesn’t affect – all drugs affect everybody different.
