Kofi Kingston On Criticism From Daniel Bryan And Mr. McMahon: “They Know Damn Well That I’m Not A B+ Player”

Kofi Kingston spoke with WWE.com after Mr. McMahon announced next week’s gauntlet match for a title opportunity at Wrestlemania 35.

Kofi said he knows how tough this road to Wrestlemania is going to be, but he wouldn’t have it any other way:

“This is definitely a big mountain to climb. Look, my entire career, I realized a very long time ago that I was never going to be the guy ‘oh you look so big, let’s put him in the main event scene. Oh, this guy’s got the best physique, let’s put him in the main event scene.’ For me, it was always going to be the hard way. It’s been hard getting here to this point. It’s been a battle, a struggle, I would have expected no other way to get to Wrestlemania. If this is the path that I have to take to get to Wrestlemania to fight for the WWE Championship, I’m going to do it.”

Kofi also responded to criticism from both Daniel Bryan and Mr. MacMahon, saying they both know what he’s capable of, despite saying otherwise:

“They’ll say anything. They know damn well that I’m not a B+ player. You can call me whatever it is that you want to call me, just give me that match, and I’ll have to show you otherwise.”

When he was asked about the challenge of a gauntlet match on next week’s show, Kofi said all he’s ever wanted was a fair shot:

“I’m not even thinking about that right now. I’m just happy I have this opportunity. That’s the first step, and that’s all that I’ve ever wanted. I told you last time, I just need a chance. If it’s going to be through five different WWE Superstars, then so be it. We just have to make it happen.”

Big E went on to say Kofi has plenty of accolades over the years and they are still The New Day, but they can put the fun and games on hold for now. He says they will do whatever they need to now to take opportunities, with Woods saying this is exactly why they got together as a stable in the first place.
