Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer reported via the latest episode of “Wrestling Observer Radio” with Garrett Gonzalez that Tommaso Ciampa will have to undergo neck surgery and will be out for an extended amount of time.

No time table for exactly how long Ciampa will be out for was given, but Meltzer did mention how depending on the severity of a neck injury that time for recovery can start from six months or more.

As we reported last week, a source speaking to Wrestlezone stated Ciampa had spinal stenosis, and he would require surgery. It was said this came as a genuine shock, being more serious than original expected. We have been told that Ciampa was not experiencing any numbness or tingling, but had an irritating pain for an extended time, compared to a “burning crick in the neck” sensation.

Ciampa has been dealing with a neck injury that has kept him off WWE television and the NXT Champion was all set to appear at the World League Wrestling “Night Of Champions IV” show this Saturday, but has been pulled and was replaced by Adam Cole.

“It is unfortunate that  won’t be able to make it, as we were sincerely looking forward to seeing him here on WLW turf once again,” reads a Tweet from WLW. “However, having  appear in place of Ciampa is one that we are sure fans will love!”

No word as of yet what is planned for the NXT Championship, but it appears Ciampa will be done for quite some time and the title will have to be vacated.
