WWE will reportedly host a new standalone NXT TakeOver event in June in the same venue that the promotion hosted their first-ever touring event for the NXT brand.
According the @WrestleVotes account, who has broken several stories in the past, WWE is planning on holding NXT TakeOver at the SJSU Events Center in San Jose on Saturday, June 8th. It was also noted that there is no WWE pay-per-view event the following night, meaning NXT would be running a standalone live special instead of the now-customary schedule where it’s been paired up with WWE on a ‘big four’ weekend.
Exclusive: (that’s how you do it, right?)
NXT TakeOver: San Jose scheduled for Saturday June 8th. Same venue as NXT’s first major touring show, SJSU Event Center.
There is no WWE PPV the following night.

NXT hosting a TakeOver event by itself is not unprecedented, as (since the brand started hosting major events outside of Full Sail University) TakeOver: Respect, TakeOver: London, and TakeOver: The End were all run without a WWE PPV the following night. NXT has had five TakeOver events in each of the last two calendar years, and three out of four years, with 2016 only having four of the events.
WWE Money In The Bank has been hosted in June in recent years, with that event falling on Father’s Day every year since 2015.
