Report: Tommaso Ciampa Dealing With Neck Injury, Forced RAW Rewrite

Current NXT Champion and recent main roster call-up Tommaso Ciampa is dealing with a neck injury. As initially reported by the Wrestling Observer (subscription required), the severity of the injury is currently unknown but kept the DIY member out of action this week. The current plan is for Ciampa to compete at the next NXT TakeOver event and then reevaluate afterwards.

PW Insider has more information on the ordeal. Ciampa has been dealing with neck issues for the past five weeks and he was deemed not able to compete medically this week. According to their report, “all options are on the table” as to what WWE will do going forward with Ciampa and the situation is still in flux.

The injury also caused RAW to be partially rewritten as Ciampa and Gargano were set to compete in a four-way tag match which was later changed to Aleister Black & Ricochet defeating The Revival.
