Many fans were shocked to see Matt Hardy back in the WWE ring tonight on WWE SmackDown. The “Woken” star had been open about his contract status and mentioned that it was expiring soon. While he wasn’t lying to fans, he did leave some information out.
According to PW Insider, there was a clause in both Matt and Jeff Hardy’s contracts that allowed WWE to extend it to a third year if they wanted. Matt was simply using the situation to build some buzz and has been out rehabbing lingering injuries and getting in better ring shape.
