Kevin Owens is back, and he’s getting a title shot right off the bat courtesy of Vince McMahon, and at the expense of Kofi Kingston.
Tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown Live was started by none other than Stephanie and Shane McMahon. The familial duo introduced WWE Champion Daniel Bryan and reiterated that he would face Kofi Kingston at WWE Fastlane next month on March 10. To make it official, both had to sign the contract.
However, when Kingston was about to put pen to paper, Vince McMahon interrupted. “Kofi, I know, he’s extraordinary. Let me tell you how much I’ve appreciated what you’ve accomplished these past 11 years. Truly remarkable. However, Kofi I’m replacing you with someone more qualified. Kevin Owens!”
It seems @VinceMcMahon has deemed @FightOwensFight MORE DESERVING than @TrueKofi of a #WWEChampionship match at #WWEFastlane?! #SDLive pic.twitter.com/itWITGKznm

Owens walked down, signed the contract without saying a word, and looked at Bryan to sign, which the champion eventually did after all three members of the New Day walked out pissed off. After the commercial break, Kevin Owens asked Stephanie and Shane McMahon if he could tag with Kingston in a match since he felt that both of them deserve title shots.
