Pro Wrestling Torch Senior Columnist Bruce Mitchell had his Bruce Mitchell Audio Show with Torch contributor Zack Heydorn over the weekend (VIP subscription required) and gave some thoughts as to why WWE’s signing of Bruce Prichard could be an indicator of Vince McMahon further positioning himself as the man in power while Triple H will continue to wait to be the successor. Quotes are below (transcription credit should go to @DominicDeAngelo at WrestleZone):

I mean he’s [Triple H] been aiming towards taking over this company for years now and this is more Vince McMahon just saying “give me the top four guys off of NXT right now,” I mean it’s indicative of something and McMahon bringing back Bruce Prichard, who is seen as a problem of the new generation, to have a major role in WWE creative after all this time, that’s indicative of something. That’s indicative of Vince McMahon just staying there and Triple H isn’t getting any younger and maybe a year or two before this was a time for a regime change, creatively and at the top of the company and it’s not happening, and when you don’t make that change, the bad habits get worse.

On McMahon calling up the top four guys in NXT:

I don’t think it is a coincidence that the top four people in NXT hit both brands at the same time this week that Vince McMahon lost out on Kenny Omega, Nick & Matt Jackson, on Cody Rhodes and there are people in the company that would want to stay away from the top money and all the headaches, but with the top money (Chris Jericho was talking about this this week) goes the [stipulation] you work for the WWE, you know that plans change immediately. You know that things that you thought you had been promised would go to the wayside and that schedules change and all that. You’re going to get your money, but that’s part of the headaches of all that and the expectations of having that pride in your work and wanting to go as far as you can. They’re going to get pulled out from under you just by the nature of Vince McMahon changing his mind and being too flexible every week with these five hours to draw and these constituent things he has to, not just ratings, but networks, not just networks but WWE Network, but just this and that and the other thing.

Bruce also talks about Roman Reigns’ return to television and the release of Arn Anderson. You can subscribe to the PWTorch by going here.
