Chris Jericho Talks Vince McMahon Changing His Mind Constantly, Being A Model & Bouncer

Chris Jericho was recently a guest on the Rich Eisen Show. They talked about American football, Vince McMahon’s penchant for changing his mind, Jericho’s past as a model, and much more.

Check out highlights below!

On being billed as from Manhattan during a time:

I was born in Manhasset, New York, because my father played for the New York Rangers. Then I moved to Winnipeg. Funny story, in about the mid-2000s when Vince McMahon decided you couldn’t be from Canada and be a babyface. For whatever reason, his mindset was that nobody could cheer a Canadian. I’m not kidding. I was told that you can’t be from Winnipeg anymore, you’re from Tampa. Well, I’m not from Tampa, I just live there. ‘Where were you born?’ Manhasset. ‘That’s too country, you’re now from Manhattan, New York.’ It probably lasted six months, but Vince would go through these things sometimes. ‘No more DDTs! There are too many DDTs!’ Then six months later, ‘Why aren’t there any DDTs on the damn show?’

On being a one-time model:

I think one time someone paid me $50 to do a lingerie fashion show where I was the male guy walking the girls out. So, I guess technically, yes, I was a model. $50 in Canadian for that.

His best bouncer story:

One time there was a huge brawl where the roof of the bar caved in. Literally, the whole roof just fell. It had nothing to do with the brawl, some kind of water pipe. It was like something out of a movie, y’know? The Jets versus. Sharks line up for the fight, there’s gonna be a rumble tonight, here we go! And *crashing noise* the roof falls. Fights over. Everyone was alive but it ended the fight.

His original wrestling name being … Jack Action:

I was going to call myself ‘Jack Action.’ First name Jack, last name Action. I thought it was going to make me a million dollars. Then I told someone that and they went, ‘You can’t be Jack Action, that name is stupid.’ So, I was like ‘Of course, it’s stupid. I’d never do that.’ So, they ask for my name and I look at the Halloween album and I go, ‘Chris Jericho!’
