Mark Henry Says Ricochet’s Stock Rose The Most From RAW Debut, Takes Issue With How Ciampa Was Used

Last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW was a special occasion as four of NXT’s brightest stars had showcase matches. Ricochet teamed up with Finn Balor to defeat Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush, Aleister Black beat Elias, and Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa beat RAW Tag Team Champions The Revival. On today’s episode of SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio, Mark Henry broke down what he saw from last night.

“I think that the biggest success was Ricochet,” said Henry. “He made a really good impression, he came across as someone you’d want to get behind and the action was nonstop. He got to actually show what he could do against a guy on the small, technical side and a big guy that’s a monster. It was a lot of versatility in both his offense and defense.”

He also had praise for Black’s debut. “That entrance is Brood-like, Undertaker-like. It’s one that we’ll get behind years to come.” However, he didn’t like how Gargano and Ciampa was used. “You want to see people and say it in their own words. To come across as if you met them in the streets, it didn’t do that. I’ve met Ciampa and Gargano, that is not who they are. Ciampa came across as if he was docile! What the hell is this? Who is this guy? That’s not Ciampa. He’s got to go out and be Hannibal Lecter like he is on NXT. That’s the guy I want to see.”
