Samoa Joe On Why He Hasn’t Had A WWE Championship Run, Convincing ‘The Powers That Be’

WWE Superstar Samoa Joe was a guest on today’s Busted Open Radio and gave his thoughts on why his efforts haven’t been rewarded with a WWE Championship run, “It’s a real simple thing and it’s something I dealt with my entire career. I’ve always needed to convince more than the average person. A lot of cats come in and people hook their hopes and dreams on them and they say, ‘This is the guy. This is the guy. This is the guy.’ I’ve never had that luxury and it’s not something I hold in spite. It’s not something I’m all mad about. That’s just business. This is my life.”

Samoa Joe continued, “It took me a long time to get to WWE because I was sitting there – it took me to put together an illustrious career to find a ridiculous stereotype to get in, and then when I did get in, I was told that I wouldn’t do anything. I was destined to stay in a certain spot and a certain place, and within two days we proved that wrong.”

The SmackDown Live Superstar added, “I understand how people’s timetable works. A lot of the fans are working on a timetable of when they see somebody come in they go, ‘Wow! This is awesome. They’re really behind this guy. They’re really gonna go with this guy. He’s gonna be the dude,’ and it happens in a certain amount of time. For me it’s never happened in that timetable, so I stopped prescribing to that time table. I have no doubt in my mind, I’ll be a WWE Champion. I have no doubt in my mind the success I will achieve before my career is said and done. I just know, at the same time, I’m still fighting these same battles and I will continue.”

Samoa Joe closed with:

I’m not gonna complain about it. I will convince you. I’ve done it before. I’ve done it my entire career. I’m not worried about me. I’m not worried about what I bring to the table. I’ve got the arsenal. If you look at my armory, we’re ready for war. When the powers that be come around and they realize, ‘Hey, we’ve got some killers out here that are ready to do something,’ then that’s what’s gonna happen. I’ll sit here and I’ll keep being consistent, and I’ll keep spitting the fire people want to hear, and I’ll keep saying the things people wish they could say. I’m not a guy that’s gonna be here and get on social media, and whine, and complain, and be all sad, ‘Man, I really wish they’d given me a chance.’ I’m going to go out there and slap people in the mouth, and go get a chance. Every time I walk to that ring I’m there to start a fight and that’s what people pay to see the last time I checked. They didn’t pay to see somebody go out there and give their emotions and be emotional. No, they paid to see me go out there and talk the talk and start a fight. I will make this solemn promise to the WWE Universe: when you see me on TV, I’m there for one reason, and that’s to whip somebody’s ass.
