Jay White shocked the wrestling world this morning as he defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi to become IWGP Heavyweight Champion. That makes him New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s biggest singles champion. On SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio, Tommy Dreamer discussed the move.
“I like him [as champion],” revealed Dreamer. “I think it’s a risk, but obviously you’ve got to build new stars. New Japan has to build new stars just like Ring of Honor had to build new stars since all their stars left. That’s the nature of the business. You look at Roman Reigns, he left [due to leukemia]. He’s the biggest star of WWE, so you’ve got to start building new stars.”
He also sees a lot in White similar to WWE veteran Al Snow. “[White has a] better body, but before when Al Snow was a [part of New Rockers], he had the same hair. Super talented guy.”
