Jay Lethal and Matt Taven recently spoke with The Ledger ahead of Ring Of Honor‘s Bound By Honor event in Lakeland this weekend.
Taven has been outspoken about being the ‘real World Champion’ because he’s never really been given a fair shot, saying he was forced to take matter into his own hands. Lethal says he will hold Taven in high regard for his skill, noting Taven beat him for the ROH World Television Championship, but still considers Taven’s makeshift title to be outrageous:
“He has this fake championship that he created, and is trying to get people to recognize it as the legit title. It’s absurd, and I’m a bit offended Ring of Honor hasn’t stepped in yet to help with these matters. He’s even defending it. It’s outrageous to me.”
Taven, who will team with The Kingdom against Villain Enterprises that night, says he’s still focused on making it to Madison Square Garden for ROH’s ‘Super Bowl’ this April:
“Everything right now since Final Battle has had its sights set on MSG. I’m not taking away from future events coming up, but it’s our Super Bowl. This is the Super Bowl I want to go to. I’ve had Madison Square Garden circled on my calendar, and am looking forward to it.”
