Braun Strowman Comes To The Aid Of Kurt Angle, Was Angle Going To Announce His Retirement?

Kurt Angle was set to address his WWE future on RAW tonight, but Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin interfered before he could make a definitive decision.

Kurt came out and talked about his various accolades in and out of the ring, but said his latest matches haven’t been up to his standards. Kurt said his three I’s had turned into three D’s, and there’s one opponent he couldn’t beat—Father Time. He went to continue, but Baron Corbin cut him off and said they should wrap things up because Kurt did this to himself. Corbin said this should have been Kurt’s Hall Of Fame speech, and he was supposed to make matches, not compete in them as RAW GM. Corbin called him a broken down shadow of a man, which lit a fire in Kurt, who said he’d break Corbin’s ankle.

Drew McIntyre then came to the ramp and said Kurt couldn’t help himself, saying people used to see a warrior in Kurt, but he saw fear last week. Drew says Kurt doesn’t know the word quit, and he’d keep showing up until someone did something drastic, so he said this was going to be the last time they saw Kurt in a WWE ring. They stormed to the ring, but Braun Strowman came out for the save before anything went down, and the commentary team even questioned if the incident put off Kurt’s retirement speech.

Shortly after the in-ring segment, it was announced that Kurt and Braun would team up against Corbin and McIntyre on tonight’s show. The match ended up as the main event, with Corbin and McIntyre winning via disqualification after Braun attacked Corbin, despite not being the legal man. The end of the show saw Corbin and McIntyre trying to slam Angle on the ring steps, but Braun came to his aid again and the pair stood tall to end the show.
