Ricochet was interviewed by Mirror‘s Lyle Carr in hype for last night’s HalfTime Heat during Super Bowl LIII and got the opportunity to speak on being voted the NXT Breakout Star Of The Year by the fans, him rooting for fellow NXT star Kacy Catanzaro and what’s in his plans after losing the NXT North American Championship to Johnny Gargano. Quotes are below:

Ricochet on being voted NXT Breakout Star Of The Year:

It was pretty cool; even getting nominated it was really cool, and winning it was also really cool. I dunno, to have that support from the fans, from the NXT universe, it was really awesome to me. And I’m happy what I can do can bring joy to them enough to vote for me.

To be honest next year it’s really up for anybody, there are so many guys here that could just break out at any moment – whether it’s Keith Lee or Dominik Dijakovic or Matt Riddle, there’s so many guys. One of the new guys named Stacey Ervine, he’s gonna be really good.

Even Kacy Catanzaro, she could break out at any moment; there’s so many people here that could break out. It’s gonna be a hard one next year.

On losing the NXT North American Championship:

Honestly, that’s kind of the beauty with losing the title, now anything is open. Whether I want to go for [NXT Champion] Tommaso [Ciampa], whether I want to go for Johnny [Gargano]… anything is real. I don’t see that as a setback, I see it as a step forward. An evolution of Ricochet.

As soon as I get an opportunity, whether it’s for the NXT Championship, the North American Championship, and the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is coming up soon, so whether it’s the NXT Tag Team Championship… that’s the beauty within losing, it’s like an open world. There’s so many avenues I can go down.
