Eric Bischoff On How He Would Have Booked The Undertaker In WCW: ‘It Would Be Tough’

Eric Bischoff is not known to mince words and give out his thoughts unfiltered. In a recent episode of 83 Weeks alongside co-host Conrad Thompson, Bischoff responds to a fan question about the possibility of booking The Undertaker if was signed to WCW:

“I don’t know man. He wouldn’t be The Undertaker and that’s the biggest challenge right there because you’re spending so much money on a character you can not have,” Bischoff explains. “So knowing that he wouldn’t have been anything close to the Undertaker as a character, how could we have used him?”

Bischoff would further elaborate his gripes against booking bigger wrestlers, citing that their size would make them harder to sympathize with and portray as cowardly heels. He did suggest in a fantasy scenario if the nWo angle played out perfectly, “The Phenom” could have worked as a foil to Kevin Nash.

Because WCW and Mark Callous previously had a relationship, I would have probably played off of that. I would probably try to bring Undertaker/Mark Callous in on the WCW side of the equation to counter for [Kevin] Nash so to speak, so that might’ve worked. But other than something like that, I don’t know. It would’ve been tough.”
