Mickie James & Nick Aldis Make Christmas Dream Come True For Cancer Survivor

Carmen Eva is a survivor. After being diagnosed with an aggressive form of stage three breast cancer in 2017, she endured 4.5 months of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, & the removal of fourteen lymph nodes. Through the grueling process, Eva lost all of her hair and the radiation caused skin poisoning that only just recently healed. As the holidays approached, like many of us, she wanted to spend them with her family. Her father, brothers, sister-in-law, and two nephews live in Maine, while she lives nearly 2,000 miles south in Arkansas. Eva needed a hand up to make it home for the holidays and reached out to the world of professional wrestling for some assistance.

Enter Mickie James & Nick Aldis, a real life wrestling couple who wanted to make someone’s dreams come true this Christmas season. The pair were moved after spending Thanksgiving holiday with James’ family and with the understanding that they would spend the Christmas season with Aldis’ family in the United Kingdom, they reflected on how fortunate they were to be able to do so. James said, “We realized that in the struggles to achieve our goals, that there were many times we couldn’t go home and visit with our family and came up with this real cool idea.” Aldis added, “We were talking about being more giving this year and one of the things we thought about were people who, for whatever reason, were not able to travel back to their home for Christmas. We decided that if you submit to us, either for yourself or for somebody else…..we will take care of a round trip ticket for you, so that you can go and spend it with your family at Christmas.”

The Aldis’ received a number of submissions from people that desperately wanted to come home for Christmas, but it was Carmen Eva who pulled on their heart strings and became the sole recipient of the holiday giveaway. James took to Instagram with the following, “As many of you may know this hit home for me with my baby sis Susan’s battle with Ovarian Cancer. Nick and I are so excited that she [Eva] will now spend the holidays with her family in Maine! Thank you to everyone that submitted. All of your stories were so touching. We appreciate you all and wish you the Happiest of Holidays!”

After a long and arduous journey, Carmen Eva is coming home due in no small part to two of wrestling’s best, Mickie James and Nick Aldis. It was James and Aldis, who in their effort to change a life, remind us of the true spirit of the holiday season: the spirit of giving.
