A couple of newsworthy moments happened during the NXT tapings in Orlando tonight that directly affects the women’s division.
MMA Stars Make Their In-Ring NXT TV Debut
Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir, one-half of the Four Horsewomen of MMA with Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey, made their in-ring television debuts during the NXT Tapings. They faced off against Io Shirai and Dakota Kai, in which they were defeated. Both Duke and Shafir sported attire similar to the NXT Women’s Champion, with more of a rugged flair. The duo has been competing in NXT live events since July this year, working against the combination of Sane, Shirai, and Kai.

Bianca BelAir to Challenge Shayna Baszler At NXT Takeover: Phoenix
In regards to the Baszler and the NXT Women’s Championship, a new challenger has been determined in the undefeated Bianca BelAir. BelAir won a Fatal-4-Way that also involved Io Shirai, Mia Yim, and Lacey Evans, earning her the Number One Contender’s spot for Baszler’s title. The two will face each other for NXT Takeover: Phoenix during Royal Rumble weekend.
