Paige recently spoke out about rumors that she’s been cleared to return to the ring, saying those claims are completely untrue.
Paige posted the following remarks on Twitter in response to a fan saying they had heard the current SmackDown General Manager was cleared to wrestle:
Nope. I’m not. At all. One more knock to my neck could result in paralysis. Don’t read “facts” on the internet. As much as I want that to be true it’s 100% not.

While it’s unclear when those rumors actually gained any traction, the story was incorrectly attributed to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com. Johnson has since shot down these claims, saying a story was spun after he made comments about Paige’s physical health. In a response to a fan question, Johnson spoke about it being unlikely to allow Paige to return to the ring on a recent episode of his MJ Mailbag. Johnson said she could hypothetically wrestle if she were to leave WWE, but never stated Paige was cleared to return, and was clear about saying she is still very much with WWE and the company was happy with her work as an on-air character.
Paige has remained retired from in-ring action since sustaining a neck injury in December 2017. She announced her retirement on the RAW after Wrestlemania 34, and was revealed as the new General Manager of SmackDown Live the next night.
