WWE Remove Women During WrestleMania Ad Played At Crown Jewel

As is already well known, Saudi Arabia has different views of women than any other places around the globe do. Of course, during WWE Crown Jewel, there were no women allowed to compete in the ring although we did get Renee Young featured on commentary throughout the whole night. During the video package played for WrestleMania travel packages, it was pointed out that unlike the ones that had been shown on RAW and SmackDown, women were removed for the purposes of the live crowd in Saudi Arabia. This was pointed out on Twitter by wrestling journalist David Bixenspan:

Hmm, there’s a difference between the WrestleMania promo that aired on Raw/SmackDown and the one from #WWECrownJewel, which is inset…something’s missing, some kind of de-evolution. Can’t put my finger on it, though.

It is worth noting, that women were shown during the preview for Survivor Series where they plugged the Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch match and they did receive quite a pop when their pictures showed up on screen. WWE did present the first women’s wrestling match in the Middle East when Sasha Banks battled Alexa Bliss in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates and as has been said many times on television the crowd was so moved that they chanted “This Is Hope.” Hopefully, it is just a matter of time before we see these kinds of changes implemented in Saudi Arabia considering that WWE still has many years left on their deal with the Saudi General Sports Authority as part of the “Vision 2030 plan.”
