Shane McMahon won the World Cup tournament at WWE Crown Jewel… yes, you read that correctly.

Smackdown won the Cup, but it was not without controversy as Shane added himself to the match, much to the dismay of the referee, Baron Corbin, and even The Miz. Shane inserted himself into the match after The Miz appeared to injure himself before the final match between Miz and Dolph Ziggler could take place. Shane said they weren’t forfeiting the match and added himself to the match, and ended up winning after hitting Dolph with his trademark ‘Coast To Coast’ move.

A full recap of the match is below:

The Miz ends up attacking Dolph before the bell, then he whips him outside and hops outside. Miz appears to hurt his right leg on the landing and struggles to stay on his feet. Ziggler punches him a few times and Miz whips him into the steps, then the referee and Shane McMahon check on him and talk about calling the match off. The referee says they can’t let him compete and Miz says he’s never been injured, screaming at the referees to leave him alone. The ref says he’s throwing the match out and calls for a forfeit, but Shane says this isn’t going down this way and says he will compete on Miz’s behalf.

Shane McMahon vs Dolph Ziggler

Shane starts the match with jabs to Ziggler’s body in the corner, then Baron Corbin tries to get involved and Shane has him thrown out of the match. Dolph gets some punches in and Shane fights back, connecting with some punches before hitting a DDT. Shane slingshots him into the turnbuckles and heads up top, and hits Coast To Coast to win.

Winner – Shane McMahon
