Kane Confirms His Appearance At Crown Jewel

Kane as a character is a big part of WWE’s Crown Jewel spectacular. However, Glenn Jacobs, the person portraying The Big Red Machine, is in actuality the mayor of Knox County Tennessee. Because of his role in politics, many were wondering if the Crown Jewel controversy would adversely effect Kane and if Jacobs would make a decision to not appear at the WWE Network special. Knox News has published an article on their website confirming that Jacobs will indeed be appearing citing that in spite of the controversy Glenn Jacobs is a man of his word and will appear at Crown Jewel because he made a commitment to not only the WWE but the Knoxville Public Safety Foundation and the First Responders of Knoxville in Knox County to which WWE is donating $100,000 to a local nonprofit in exchange for Jacobs appearance.

“Mayor Jacobs is still going to the Crown Jewel event because he made a commitment to not only the WWE, but the Knoxville Public Safety Foundation and the first responders of Knoxville and Knox County,” said the mayor’s spokesperson Rob Link.

Crown Jewel has been confirmed to go on as scheduled in Saudi Arabia and this article outlines the optimistic bigger picture of WWE’s 10-year agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

“Crown Jewel is part of a 10-year partnership between the WWE and the Saudi government, partially to support the country’s social and economic reform plan, “Vision 2030.” The plan aims to promote the country’s image as “the heart of the Arab and Islamic worlds.”

The article also includes this quote from Vince McMahon about being happy to make this donation to Knox County for all that Glenn has done for the WWE and will continue to do for them and Knox County Tennessee.

“We’re happy to support this charity of behalf of Mayor Jacobs,” WWE CEO Vince McMahon said in a press release. “Much like his unparalleled contributions to advancing the WWE brand during his stellar career of more than 20 years, Mayor Jacobs has begun work to improve Knox County.”
