#5.) Winning the United States Championship
Hardly a few months into his WWWF debut, Pedro Morales was already a fan favorite. He participated in a tournament to crown a new United States Champion, and in the finals, he would face “Classy” Freddie Blassie to become United States Champion. It wasn’t often that superstars would just come in at the time and make an impact.
However, Morales had over a decade of experience under his belt at this point, and Vince McMahon Sr. realized that he also had the Puerto Rican crowd behind him too. His reign as United States champion would hardly last long, but it wasn’t because he lost the title. We’ll get back to that.
