WZ Mailbag: John Cena Heel Turn, Bray Wyatt’s Gimmick, TNA’s Future, Does WWE Have Competition?, Much More

wwe nxt live event resultsWith NXT starting to tour as its own brand, do you foresee the end of Indy wrestling as we know it.

Well, saying that NXT will completely destroy the Indy circuit is a bit of a stretch but I do see more problems for independent promotions down the road. Obviously, the fact that NXT can run against indy promotions is the main problem. They will lose some of the audience if this happens but you just know that there are the loyal fans that will stick through with the promotion to the end, so I don’t see Indy wrestling collapsing but I do see NXT as another large stepping stone for these promotions.

Do you ever see WWE having major competition like they did with WCW ever again? TNA has been no competition. GFW? Or will WWE just pretty much dominate the wrestling world?

The only promotion WWE has to watch out for is themselves. They will continue to dominate the wrestling world as long as everything is sound on the inside. Like mentioned earlier, TNA will never be what it once was so they are pretty much out of the picture. Jarrett’s GFW needs time to build, it can be ‘TNA at it’s peak’ popular but I don’t see it as real competition to WWE. Lucha Underground is gaining steam and is pretty much the second most watched wrestling promotion now but its FAR behind WWE. As much as I would love to see ROH as be competition to WWE, you and I both know that that is never going to happen, besides WWE would just buy it over, frankly. WWE has been on top for the last decade and a half and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

What’s the latest on potential WWE talent releases?

I can’t tell you exactly who is going to be released next but there are certainly a lot of sitting ducks on the main roster right now that are under-utilized who are bound to be gone soon (don’t want to say names, but you know who I am talking about). There are also some NXT guys that aren’t getting any screen time, or jobbing so I think we will hear about some releases in the near future.
