The summer of women’s wrestling is intensifying: Zelina Vega returns to WWE, Alex Gracia earns her Ticket To Gold, a new RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Champion has been crowned, and much more! Let’s break it down in this week’s Women’s Wrestling Wrap-up!

Zelina Vega Returns To WWE, Added To Money In The Bank Match

The Money In The Bank pay-per-view is heating up. Last week on Friday Night Smackdown, Sonya Deville appeared out to the ring again to announce the next entrant in the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. In surprise fashion, Zelina Vega emerged.

Vega made her way down to the ring, declaring she plans on winning the match and cashing in her opportunity to become the Women’s Champion on one of WWE’s three brands. However, this moment was interrupted by the eager Liv Morgan, who demanded to know why Zelina Vega was getting this slot instead of her. Morgan had previously defeated former 2-time Money In The Bank winner, Carmella, two weeks in a row.

Vega retorted, stating that she had many years of wrestling experience and that she was one of the most popular female competitors throughout WWE history. Moreover, Liv Morgan then challenged Vega to a match on the spot, which Sonya Deville made official. Morgan then continued her winning streak, rolling up Vega for the 1-2-3 pin. Though earning another impressive victory, Morgan has yet to officially solidify her spot in the official Money In The Bank match.

With Zelina Vega’s addition, that leaves two vacant spots from the blue-brand yet to be announced. Rounding out the crop for the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match so far is: Asuka, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, Nikki Cross, Carmella, and most recently, Zelina Vega.

Zelina Vega had prior been released from WWE in November 2020, but she was spotted at the company’s Performance Center as recently as May.

Smackdown Women’s Championship On The Line In “I Quit” Match

Speaking of Money In The Bank, it was recently announced that Smackdown Women’s Champion, Bianca Belair is set to defend her title against a former champion, Bayley, in an “I Quit Match” at this month’s Money In The Bank pay-per-view. This officially marks the third occasion that these two competitors will be facing off in a championship bout. Belair previously defeated Bayley at Hell In A Cell and WrestleMania Backlash to retain her title; but now, WWE has upped the stakes and the intensity by re-introducing the third ever women’s “I Quit” match in the franchise’s history.

Bianca Belair vs. Bayley’s “I Quit” Match is set to be be the third Women’s “I Quit” Match in WWE history, following the inaugural Melina vs. Beth Phoenix match in 2008, and former NXT UK Women’s Champion, Kay Lee Ray vs. Toni Storm, which took part in 2020.

New RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Champion Crowned

Last week, it was announced that the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship had been declared vacant. After former champion, Jamie Hayter and challenger, Skye Smiton had both been contacted for NXT UK try-outs, Revolution Pro announced a contest between the last two women to hold the championship, Gisele Shaw and Zoe Lucas, to determine a new champion. Last Sunday at RevPro’s Live At The Cockpit 51 event, Shaw and Lucas collided in an epic bout, but it was the “Quinessential Diva” who emerged victorious.

This victory officially crowns as the new champion, and marks the beginning of her second title reign. Shaw promised to be a fighting champion, so she will now defend her newly won Undisputed British Women’s Championship against “The Glamour”, Mariah May on July 18th.

NXT UK Women’s Action Continues; Blair Davenport Revealed

The women’s wrestling action continues to intensify in NXT UK. Kicking off the show last week was Emilia McKenzie (fka Millie McKenzie) vs Isla Dawn. Both women traded strikes for a back and forth contest, but McKenzie ultimately landed a double knee strike for the victory on Dawn.

Meanwhile, new NXT UK Women’s Champion, Meiko Satomura, emerged to the ring to cut a promo, but was interrupted by Nina Samuels. She congratulated her and Kay Lee Ray on their impressive championship match a few weeks ago, but Samuels also thinks  that NXT UK and Meiko Satomura needs need more Nina Samuels. Samuels proclaimed that she could put Satomura “on the map” if she was her first title defense. Before Satomura could properly responde, Amale attacked Samuels from behind, flinging her into the steel steps. Amale demanded a title shot from “The Final Boss, Satomura, which was accepted.

Soon afterwards, another video package aired for NXT UK’s newest acquisition, Blair Davenport. Davenport declared that she has arrived in the hottest women’s division in the world. She then removed her hood to reveal herself: the former, Bea Priestley.

After challenging Aoife Valkyrie to a match, Mila Smidt made her in-ring debut in NXT UK last week. “The French Elegance” put in a valiant effort, but ultimately fell short to the intense Valkyrie. After the match, Valkyrie found Jinny looming on the entrance ramp, insinuating a potential feud between the two.

Tegan Nox Appears In Dark Match; Potential Return Plans Revealed
