5 Great WWE Storylines That Ended With An Underwhelming Payoff

#4.) Randy Orton & Bray Wyatt‘s alliance

In the summer of 2016, Randy Orton began a feud against Bray Wyatt. It led to a rather underwhelming match at No Mercy, but after that, things began to pick up. Orton had suddenly turned heel and aligned with Wyatt rather than going against him. It resulted in the best storyline in WWE between 2016-2017 and it was an unexpected pairing that worked wonders.

Moreover, the fact that Wyatt was being pushed as such got the fans more excited and as expected, it culminated with a WWE title clash at WrestleMania 33. Unfortunately, Wyatt would lose the bout, going 0-3 at WrestleMania. It was an unnecessary loss because they could have made a star out of him had he retained the title. Nobody wanted to see Orton win.

The following month, they concluded their rivalry with a match called “House of Horrors”. Let’s just quietly try and forget about that.
