WWE RAW Review

Tonight’s episode of WWE RAW featured a few interesting events as the build to TLC continues. To help you digest the episode, check out our five takeaways from the latest episode that showcased the red brand in our WWE RAW review for the December 10, 2018 episode.

Clashing With Authority

The rumored plans are that Seth Rollins will be facing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, and WWE did an excellent job of painting him as a main event babyface tonight. Not only did he echo a lot of the thoughts of the fans, but he got in some valid complaints about Lesnar’s run as Universal Champion. If they keep this up then Lesnar vs. Rollins will feel like a truly huge deal when it eventually happens.

However, Rollins opens a can of worms by saying that the show is bad. Because if WWE doesn’t actually start delivering a better product, then they’ve not only acknowledged that they know people think the show sucks, but that they can’t fix it. It begins a cycle where you’re just insulting those that continue to tune in. Things need to get better.

New Champions!

If you used your booking head, it made a lot of sense that Chad Gable and Bobby Roode would win the Tag Team Championships from Authors of Pain. After all, WWE has a TLC rematch to make and it wouldn’t make much sense to make after another loss. However, it was still satisfying to see Drake Maverick get his comeuppance, even if I think AoP is going to get the belts back in short order.

McIntyre Gets His Heat Back

Well, I really don’t get the whole point of Ziggler winning last week. Sure, they sort of turned him face (although he hasn’t really shown any remorse or change in character), but he’s still on a very midcard level with no real direction. Having him lose immediately to McIntyre a week later shows that he only won before due to Finn’s interference, and continues to make him look like a bit of a bum. WWE should have given McIntyre and Ziggler some breathing room. Feuds can go on the backburner for a bit and return later, no need to sprint through them.

Heath Slater Kind Of Sucks As A Ref

Heath Slater

Heath Slater made his referee debut tonight as Elias took on Lio Rush. Bobby Lashley wound up interfering after Elias gained an early edge and was about to win. However, Slater never disqualified Rush, and instead allowed the duo to use a guitar to attack “The Drifter.” I get that Slater is concerned about his job security, but making him even more of a wuss than non-wrestler referees doesn’t make much sense. He shouldn’t be so easily intimidated.

And there was more to come…

Burn It Down

What a great RAW main event. The TLC match between Baron Corbin and Seth Rollins had some great high spots, and a big twist with Slater helping Corbin to almost win the Intercontinental Championship. However, that wasn’t enough to keep the belt off of Rollins. It was a perfect comeback win for Seth, and I can’t wait to see him go up against Ambrose this Sunday.
