SmackDown Live Review

Tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live was a jam packed one full of interesting events. To help you digest the episode, check out our five takeaways from the latest episode that showcased the blue brand in our SmackDown Live review for the December 4, 2018 episode.

Everyone Is Talking About Ronda Rousey

The opening segment between Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Asuka was supposed to boost interest in the TLC triple threat match, but they wound up talking more about Ronda Rousey than the actual Championship bout. Not sure how WWE thinks focusing on someone not in the match will get people more interested, but it certainly didn’t work.

Rusev Is Hungry

I’m a big fan of Rusev talking about his bouncing pecs, big biceps and traps that are like a “double decker taco supreme.” Despite some underwhelming booking and a terrible feud with Aiden English that went nowhere and helped nobody involved, Rusev still is charismatic enough to get himself over with a simple promo. He needs to be on television way more regularly, as he’s one of the best things SmackDown has going for it.

I’ve Seen This Before

It’s weird how much I like everyone in the SmackDown tag team title picture, yet am uninterested in the current feud between The Bar, The Usos, and The New Day. We’ve seen variations on this match for just about the entire past year, and it’s time for some fresh faces. Let Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson have some feuds, or add in a new team. The same matches can only keep people entertained for so long, no matter how good the participants are.

Samoa Joe Is Incredible

I absolutely loved the promo that Joe cut after the Orton/Hardy match. Sure, this feud is retreading a lot of the CM Punk and Jeff Hardy rivalry, but Joe’s delivery was fantastic. His smug, drinking responsibly PSA was both factually correct, and incredibly arrogant. He’s basking in Hardy’s failings and addictions, and it’s making me want to see both of them battle it out. However, just like last week, Joe isn’t wrong with what he’s saying.

The New Daniel Bryan

“Do you hear the sheep? They are reciting something stupid from 20 years ago, but they can’t help it.”

Daniel Bryan is fantastic. Not only did he manage to make some great points on group think as a whole, but he’s a tremendous dick the entire time. Having The Miz and Bryan agree philosophically, yet still manage to not really get along, is a fantastic new wrinkle to their long rivalry. Even better was Bryan’s humanitarian rant, which was aided by him screaming “Do you want to count sins?” I don’t think they do, Bryan. They might not like what they see.

Also, Bryan is practically a babyface now after saying that he wants his daughter to kick every man in the groin.
