Bill Murray is returning to the golf course for a new documentary series. The actor is traveling across Ireland with a group of family members, friends, and fellow golf enthusiasts. Their journey combines golf, comedy, and travel as they explore the country’s famous courses and local communities.
A Course Called Ireland premieres on Paramount+ on October 25, 2026. The six-part documentary series follows Murray and author Tom Coyne as they play their way across Ireland. The project also brings back memories of Murray’s iconic role as Carl Spackler in Caddyshack, the 1980 golf comedy that remains one of his best-known films.
Bill Murray’s new series brings together a star-studded group for an unpredictable journey
The 30-minute episodes follow Murray and his friends through Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. His group includes brothers Joel Murray and John Murray, actor Chris O’Dowd, comedian Joanne McNally, NFL star Jason Kelce, and longtime golfing companion Tom Coyne.
Additionally, it draws inspiration from Coyne’s New York Times bestseller, A Course Called Ireland: A Long Walk in Search of a Country, a Pint, and the Next Tee. The series combines golf with travel, comedy, and personal moments. The group’s journey also highlights the people and communities they encounter along the way.
The episodes feature candid and unscripted moments as the group moves between golf courses, local communities, and other parts of Ireland. Paramount+ describes the series as a celebration of life going off course. The journey also offers an unexpected portrait of Ireland and Murray himself.
Casey Scharf and Morgan Roberts serve as showrunners and executive producers. Scharf originally developed the project for television. Chris Cottam serves as series director. Meanwhile, Stellify Media and Skydance Sports produced the six-part series.
A Course Called Ireland will premiere globally on Paramount+ on Sunday, October 25, except in Latin America. In the UK, the series will air on BBC Two, BBC One Northern Ireland, and BBC iPlayer.
